Newsletter 8 - 28th May 2021

As we approach the end of a long and difficult half term, I want to pay particular tribute to all of our teachers of Year 11 (and in some cases Year 10) for the tremendous work you have done in assessing work and gathering evidence to award GCSE grades to students. It is galling that, in doing the exam board’s work for them, they still seem to be set on charging us indefensible fees but hopefully there will be a national campaign to return most of this money back into school budgets where it belongs!

Some good news is that we have been able to dispense with face coverings for secondary school students and although, we cannot act as if the pandemic as gone away, it is so lovely to be able to walk once again into classrooms and see students’ faces and watch their interactions with their peers.

I have similarly enjoyed my visits to our two primary schools and reassuringly the children all seem happy, settled and engaged in their work. Thank you to all of our staff for everything that you are continuing to do to mitigate the impact of the lockdowns on our children
